Indirect questions

Las indirect questions son preguntas usadas para hablar con más cortesía o para expresar dudas con personas desconocidas.

Una pregunta indirecta contiene dos cláusulas. Una puede comenzar así:

⇨ Do you know...?
⇨ Do you have any idea...?
⇨ Can you tell me...?
⇨ Could you tell me...?
⇨ I wonder if...?

La otra cláusula es una pregunta directa pero cambiada a una afirmación.

Ejemplos:

➨ What time it is? (pregunta directa)
    Do you know what time is it? (pregunta indirecta)

➨ Where does she live?
    Can you tell me where she lives?

➨ Did you go to the party?
     Could you tell me if you went to the party?

➨ Do I need a new jacket?
     I wonder if need a new jacket.

➨ Why did Mia get a new phone?
     I wonder why Mia got a new phone.
